It's Your Day Foundation

It's Your Day Foundation
The day had finally come.  December 19th 2015 marks the official launch date of It's Your Day Foundation.  This whole idea started when my very good friend Melissa had come to me asking me if I could do a Princess for a Day for a young girl fighting cancer.  I have always wanted to do something like this, so I course said absolutely.   This brave young girl that is fighting cancer was honored, but really wanted to pass this day on to her little cousin, 6 year old Madie.  This brought tears to my eyes and from that moment I knew that this family was extra special and they were all going to benefit from this day.
At 10am 7 princesses and queens ranging in all ages and systems,  along with my two hosts Crystal & Tori Cavey, Melissa & Kris Kristopher K-Rod Rodriguez from K&M photography and the Kenosha News gathered by the front door to surprise this special little girl.  As the door opened, we were all welcomed in by the most beautiful little girl and her sweet smile.  We greeted her with gifts, introduced ourselves and to let her know we were so excited to be apart of her day.  The attending Princesses and Queens did her hair, makeup and nails and then Mom Jackie got her ready in her custom-made Cinderella Tutu and Princess for the Day Banner donated by SEAMingly Perfect Designs by Leigh.  After she was Princess ready we then officially crowned Madie "Princess for a Day."     When I held up that mirror for her to see herself with a crown on her head, the expression she gave was an expression that I will never forget.   Of course when you're a Princess you need your own photo shoot and red carpet interview.
Even though Madie's banner says Princess for a Day, to me Madie is a Princess for a Lifetime.  She is the inspiration behind this It's Your Day Foundation.   No words can describe the feeling and emotion I felt actually putting this event on as well as being apart of this day in honor of Madie and her family.  I hope the pictures are able to tell that story for me.  I do want to say that Madie and her family felt like family.  I felt like I had known them for years.  To me this is God's way to telling me that I was in the right place and doing a wonderful thing for Madie and her family.    I know that this one little girls story will turn into many more stories that will last a lifetime as we have another event coming up in May and two more in the works.
For more information about this foundation please feel free to comment below or reach out to me personally  We are working on building a website that will give more information, but this is all coming at us so fast.
Meet Our Princess for the Day:
Madie is a sweet, spunky, funny 6 year old with a heart of gold and a contagious smile. She was diagnosed with Spina Bifida, a neural tube defect that affects nerves, when she was in her Mama’s belly at 16 weeks. Madie was born at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin on September 24th 2009, had surgery the day after she was born to close the hole in her back, and spent 7 days in the NICU there. Through LOTS of hard work, countless prayers, and Madie’s positive, patient and dedicated attitude, she’s overcome many obstacles by leaps and bounds. She’s learned to walk with a walker, ride her bike, swim, dance and accomplish pretty much anything she has put her mind to. She’s a natural nurturer and was over the moon in love when her baby sister Gianna was born May 20th 2014. Madie had such a strong connection with Gianna from the moment she found out there was a baby in Mama’s belly and that she was going to be a big sister. Madie’s heart was full when healthy Gianna was born and she loved helping with anything and everything she possibly could. After 2 months of pure bliss, Gianna was diagnosed with SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) and passed away at 10 weeks old on July 30th 2014. Madie handled the devastating heartbreak with grace, faith and strength for such a little girl. She knows her sister is her guardian angel and is always watching over her.  Despite any challenges Madie has faced in her life, she’s the strongest, most optimistic, determined little girl. She’s an inspiration to many and brings joy to every single person she meets.
