My Baby Turns 1

My Baby Turns 1
WOW!   It is so crazy how time flies. Being a mother is seriously one of the toughest jobs I have had to do, YET the most fulfilling.  No one can prepare you for it.  I think all mothers can relate when I say we ride the rollercoaster of emotions every second of the day.    I have felt moments of joy, isolation, defeat and victory and I wouldn't change a thing!  I am blessed to be a mother to my two beautiful boys.

To all the current moms, soon to be moms, and future moms, here is a little look back on my amazing 1st year with Xander:

To my son Xander, as you turn one-

During our first year, we have spent every waking moment together, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.  Our time together was precious and invaluable , and has left me with life-changing memories sealed in my heart forever.  I know that each year you will be become more and more independent, like your brother, and time with you will be harder to come by.  So even though I know you won't remember the days, the moments, the hours, the seconds we have spent together the last 12 months, I do know you know how much I love you!

I know you won't remember the first day we brought you home, your brother crashed a monster truck into your head and cried, but I hope you will never forget a brothers love is unconditional.  Maks loved you the very first moment he met you and you two have a special bond that only you boys will understand.

I know you won't remember all those late nights of rocking and singing you back to sleep while looking at your perfect little face, but I hope you will never forget my warm embrace and safe place.

I know your won't remember the first time you giggled and I cried with joy, but I hope you will never forget to continue sharing your joy and laughter with the world.

I know you won't rememberr when you pulled yourself up, stood on those chunky legs, for the first time in your crib and walked with your walker, but I hope you will never forget that you are brave and can do all things through Christ, who gives us strength.  Through him, he will help you find the courage to do what ever it is that you wish.

I know you won't remember the first time I fed you fruits & vegetables and you gagged/spit it out all over me, but I hope you will never forget to always take care of yourself by providing your body the healthy essentials it needs.

I know your won't remember the first time you heard music and started dancing with out a care, even while in church to church music, but I hope you will never forget to enjoy the simple moments with friends and family, and doing life with the people you love.

I know you won't remember the time you fell down a few stairs and I cried for an hour out of guilt for letting you out of my sight for one second with relief you were ok, but I hope you will never forget that our God is always with you, watching & protecting you, even when I can't.

I know you won't remember how you would call me "dada" and I would say "No Mama" and you just giggle and repeat "dada" over and over, but I hope you will never forget to always be your goofy self and not to take life so serious.  If someone calls you weird, take it as a compliment.  Life would be boring if we were all perfect.  So make a fool out of yourself every once in a while.

I know you won't remember your cute little crown and onsie I had made for your first birthday party, but I hope you will never forget your true beauty you bring to this world.  You are wonderfully made with God's perfect image.  So know you are perfect just the way you are!

I know you won't remember all the goofy outfits I would dress you in (Ok maybe you will since I took 10,774,275 photos of you), but I sure hope you will never forget to forgive freely because Jesus forgives us for all our sins, even when we don't deserve it.  So even if you are angered or hurt, whether they deserve it or not, always choose forgiveness.  Only then will your heart feel at peace.

I know you won't remember yelling and screaming thinking you were singing, but I hope you will never forget to be thankful, sing a little tune every once in a while, and find contentment right were you are, because it can be so easy to get caught up in life comparing yourself to others.

Lastly, my sweet little boy, I know you wont remember one of the best days of my life,  the day you were born and I got to hold you in my arms for the very first time, but I pray that you will never forget that you amaze me every day, and every second of the day with you is a perfect day.  You are my gift and I am so blessed you have chosen me to be your mom!

Happy 1st Birthday Xander!
